Taken Apart
These steps will help you take apart your Color Classic. When you are upgrading these beauties please take caution and remember to ground yourself.

The Mac 512 does not take any responsibility of any damage or suffering. Perform these tasks at your own risk!

Steps to completely dismantel Color Classic
  • Take out the logic board
    • Remove the back panel
    • Pull out the board
  • Remove rear housing
    • Remove 5 screws (1 by power plug, 2 at top, 2 at bottom)
  • Analog board / CRT removal
    • Discharge CRT (leave alone for 3 days unplugged - it worked for me)
    • Disconnect ground wire
    • Disconnect degauss cable
    • Disconnect Yoke cable
    • Disconnect Microphone cable
    • Pull analog board out a bit
      • If you want to remove the analog board fro m the CRT - leaving the CRT in there
        • Remove plastic anode cap from CRT
        • Remove video card off of CRT end
        • Unscrew 4 screws at the corners of the CRT
    • Remove speaker cable (Speaker is connected with velcro to the side of the chassis).
  • Chassis removal
    • Each side has two clips which must be pulled away to remove the Chassis.
