To make a usable disk use Mac OS 7.6.1 or under, Mac OS 8.x will not correctly create diskettes:

• Download the System version. (Netscape Navigator/Communicator might not understand the format, click on the Save As... Button)
• Download Disk Copy 4.2
• If your browser doesn't automatically convert the Bin file to an application you might need Stuff Expander.
• Drag the file to Aladdin's Stuffit Expander. This will create the compressed executable (.sea).
• Double click on the .sea to expand the file.
• Double click on the extracted disk image to launch Disk Copy & have it read in the disk image.
• Click on the "Make a copy" button and insert the disk to erase and create.
** On a PowerMac, Disk Copy will tell you the verify failed. It should be fine anyway, my testers confirmed this.
**Another tip came in stating that this procedure doesn't work on all PowerMacs. :(
*** Another tip came in from John that his PM 7100 with an external 800K disk drive writes 400K disks fine.

All done!

All disk images are in Apple's Disk Copy 4.2 format. Get it at ftp.apple.com (32K)
