Removing Fool-Proof -
Q. I have a Mac with the program Fool-Proof on it. It has locked me out and I don't have the password.

A.  The following will help you delete the whole hard drive partition, setup a new partition and install the OS. You will need the install disks for the version of the System Software (Mac OS) you need. This will delete all information on the hard drive.

1.) Boot with the Disk Tools diskette.
2.) Run Apple HD SC Setup (A hard disk partitioning tool)
3.) Select the hard drive and click on the Initialize button. Follow any prompts taking the default options.
4.) Once you are done formatting. Reboot from the install me first diskette and proceed to install.

This should format over the whole hard drive. Fool-Proof will not be in memory so it should not lock it.

Running older versions of System Software-
Q. I would like to try running the older versions of System Software on my Mac Classic. Can I do this?

A.  Simply no. The Mac Classic was designed for System Software 6.0.7 - Mac OS 7.5.5.

There are many reasons why you cannot:
    • The older System Software use the MFS disk format, it could write garbage to your hard drive. Or worse you could loose what you have on your hard drive.
    • The older System Software .85 - 5.1 does not support the High Density SuperDrive the Classic has.

The easiest way is to find a Mac Plus or lower to try these older System Software versions.

Power Supplies from a Mac SE/30
Q. Is it possible to take the power supply from a SE/30 and install it in my Classic or Classic II?

A.  No, the SE, SE FDHD and the SE/30 have a different power supply setup than the Classic and Classic II. The Classic & Classic II power supply components are on the analog board, where the SE, SE FDHD and SE/30 is in a seperate box inside of the Mac.

 PRAM battery
Q. Is it possible to change the PRAM battery on my Classic or Classic II?

A.  Yes the battery is in its own socket on the motherboard. Just pop it out and place the new one in its place.
