Third-Party Updaters and Tuners

This page provides links to software updaters and tuners for third-party packages that provide better compatibility with VideoVision Studio or the environments under which it is used.

Some of these links may not be complete or resolve properly until we have secured permission from the vendors, or found a suitable URL.

• We have been authorized to release a prerelease 2.5 update to the Adaptec PowerDomain 2940UW PCI SCSI card. This update is required for compatibility with VideoVision PCI.
• ATTO has released a 1.3.2 updater for their ExpressPCI PCI SCSI card that is required for compatibility with VideoVision PCI.
• Adobe has released a 4.2.1 Updater for Premiere that will prevent a parameter from being made in movies that caused audio sync problems on playback on movies made with Premiere 4.2.
• Apple's Multimedia Tuner version 2.0.1 from ftp.info.apple.com. (This is has been incorporated into Quicktime 2.1, and therefore only required with 2.0)

  Please read their Software License Agreement before downloading the Multimedia Tuner. Excerpt from the ReadMe: "Users of Adobe Premiere and other multimedia authoring software programs will experience improved system reliability under low-memory conditions with version 2.0.1 of the Apple Multimedia Tuner."
  This is automatically installed by Premiere 4.0.1 or later and VideoVision Studio 2.0.1 or later.

• Sound Manager 3.1 from ftp.info.apple.com.

  Please read their Software License Agreement before downloading the Sound Manager. Excerpt from the Read Me: "Sound Manager 3.1 is much faster on Power Macintosh computers --in many cases 4-7 times more efficient than previous versions. This means that your application can do more while sound is playing or recording. Sound Manager 3.1 is also more robust: many bugs have been fixed and a number of commonly requested features have been added."

• Fifth Generation's CopyDoubler 2.0.3 Updater

  Fixes a problem copying multiple large files. This is now up to version 2.0.4, and is owned by Symantec, included as part of Norton DiskDoubler Pro.

• FWB's JackHammer control panel 3.2

  This is the PowerMac-and-QuickTime-2.0-compatible version of the JackHammer software. It can be used to update the firmware on the JackHammer card by installing it and double-clicking it.

• Pipeline Digital's ProVtr update.
• ATTO's v1.6.1 firmware updater and Express Utilities v 2.0.2

  This is a highly compatible release of the SiliconExpressIV firmware. Make sure, for best results, to obtain the v9 ROM or later from ATTO Technologies. Download the firmware updater and the >Express Utilities v 2.0.2. (The utilities are required for compatibility with VVS.)

• ProMax's software library

  contains the latest firmware for their interface cards and array software.

  There is a new ROM available that makes this card compatible with VVS in the Power Macintoshes with BART4.

The Power Macintoshes that include BART4 are as follows:

• 7100/80
• 8100/80
• Workgroup Server 8150
• Workgroup Server 9150

(The other pizza box CPU's are not supported by VideoVision.)
