DIGITALFILM 1.6 RELEASE NOTES The following information was not available when your manual was printed. Please read it before you attempt to use DigitalFilm. Power Macintosh Installation Instructions -------------------------------------- To install DigitalFilm in a Power Macintosh 7100 or 8100 (or in any Macintosh model), follow the instructions for installing an expansion card, given in the Getting Started manual included with your computer. Monitors Control Panel Update --------------------------- Monitors control panel 7.1.2 currently is shipping with many Power Macintosh models. DigitalFilm requires Monitors control panel version 7.3.2 (or later) for proper operation. Contact Apple Computer, or your authorized Apple dealer, for an updated version of the Monitors control panel. Power Macintosh 7100 Performance -------------------------------- Video source quality (that is, the quality of the tape or signal DigitalFilm receives) affects the performance of DigitalFilm, especially on the Power Macintosh. A poor quality tape or signal results in more visible JPEG artifacts, dropped frames, and out-of-sync audio. For the best performance, be sure to use a cache expansion SIMM. A cache expansion SIMM is included with the Power Macintosh 8100. To purchase a cache expansion SIMM for the Power Macintosh 7100, contact your authorized Apple dealer. Without cache expansion, performance is much slower on the 7100 than on the Quadra 800 or 840AV.
