The Finder's desktop didn't change, the desktop looks the same as System 3.2 / Finder 5.4 Changes- AppleShare Workstation 1.1 was included 32MB disk drives and over were supported! This is the recommended System Software for the Macintosh 512Ke. This is the recommended minimum System for the Macintosh Plus. You can run the older System software, so I am not sure why. This is the last System Apple recommends using their Switcher Construction Kit. The later releases includes MultiFinder, a multitasking program switcher.
